About Cliff Kerr

Cliff was born in Western Australia, lived in San Francisco for most of his childhood, and spent far too many teenage years in rural Queensland. He was a very late bloomer (he hated singing; he used to cry when his dad sang to him, and only partly because of his dad's voice), and his formal musical training — in piano and music theory — didn't begin until age 14. He spent the next three years intensively studying piano, eventually coming fourth in the Mackay Eisteddfod Under 18 section. He finally escaped from Queensland, and he's now living in Sydney doing a PhD in physics on how the brain processes sound. Foolishly, he is also simultaneously attempting to finish a Diploma of Arts in music. Cliff joined the Madrigal Society in 2005, a matter of weeks after moving to Sydney, and has been happily singing with them ever since.
